Summary

Home based; Any West Coast location w/ travel Our client is the Pioneer/Leader in the manufacturing of PLANT BASED FOODS and PLANT BASED INGREDIENTS SYSTEMS sold globally to food and beverage manufacturers. Their global headquarters is based in Europe and recent expanded operations into the North American market. They are currently building a new NA headquarters in the Chicago, IL area and are ready to put “boots on the ground” to put their exciting NA expansion plans into action. As a result of this expansion, they are looking to hire an experienced West Coast Account Manager (Business Development Manager) to develop new business and sell Plant Based Functional Ingredient Systems to food/beverage manufacturers home based any location on the West Coast. They have plant based ingredients and systems for all segments of the food industry including: Beef, Pork, Seafood, Chicken, Dairy/Cheese, Deli Meats etc! They are a well-established European company with over $600M in sales and a successful track record manufacturing specialty Functional Ingredients: including: Stabilizing and Texturing Systems sold to Food and Beverage Manufacturers The Account Manager / Business Development Manager should be someone comfortable stepping “outside the box” to work with food and beverage companies to create solutions with functional ingredients for enjoyable plant-based products.

Responsibilities

• Business growth – Deliver growth and build pipeline of new projects at existing customers and develop lead generation activities for potential new accounts. • Technical Leadership - Be the first point of contact to provide technical support and guidance to formulators at customer locations. Provide guidance towards customer recommendations that solve their cost, quality, and functionality requirements.
• Coordinate with the Technical team to conduct seminars at customer R&D sites.
• Major Account Management - Manage major customer accounts to deliver profitable growth (identifying new opportunities, margin growth, and price management). Develop and broaden the stakeholder network at customer locations into R&D, Production, Quality and Regulatory functions to gain deeper understanding of customer needs and align company resources to deliver on those needs.
• Innovation – provide the company’s team a view to challenges, opportunities and trends that lead to product and service opportunities and basis for the company to build a stronger position in creating the right solutions for the food and beverage industry. • Communication with internal team - Develop an effective working relationship across relevant functions by creating an open dialog, listening, demonstrate respect and empathy and develop a stronger sense of self awareness.

Requirements

• Must have at least a BA in Food Science, Marketing, Business, Leadership or similar degree programs OR equivalent work experience in a marketing, sales, business development or account manager role. • Must have at least 3-5 years of sales and/or business development experience • Prefer candidates that have experience selling/marketing functional ingredients or ingredient systems to food and beverage manufacturers
• Experience working with plant based foods/beverage is a plus • Working knowledge of the food and beverage industry relating to CPG/retail, foodservice, manufacturing and co-manufacturing is a must. • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Passionate about business development and customer relationships
• The ability to be open to learning and helping others learn
• Able to use transferable skills from selling a ready to eat products, to project lead with functional ingredients. • Travel to customers on West Coast and corporate location in IL as needed and attendance at trade shows etc.
